Our Mission

wheelsThe Start of 2 Wheel Racing

2WHEELRACING was born from a desire to share in the success and growth in local cycling in 2007 and to foster friendships on and off the bike. We are fortunate to live in perhaps the finest place on earth to ride! It was a remarkable year for cycling in the Northbay. Local legend Levi Leipheimer had dominated the Tour of California and went on to win the final time trial at the Tour de France, finishing in a historic third place. In addition, a host of professional teams had set up training camps, or were found training in and around Santa Rosa, spotting riders from teams like Discovery, BMC, Priority Health, Kona, Toyota-United, Predictor-Lotto was proof that cycling and racing in Northern California was something special.

After a successful year of training and racing, a number of local groups had expressed a desire to start a new team with emphasis on diversity, growth, sponsorship promotion and friendship. The idea was drafted at a local coffee shop under the spell of an endorphin high, brought on by a long training ride toward the end of the 2007 season.

Riders like Frank Ammirata, owner of the internet cycling store2wheelsport, Ray Rodriquez, owner of Autobody Express and bike aficionado, Bruce Coats of lbcproductdesign.com, and local racer and physical therapist Star Stevenson set out to develop a non-intimidating club that would utilize the talents of members in unique ways and bear the fruit of lasting friendships and further advance racing and training in the Northbay.

Our Mission Statement

To promote cycling as an activity for health, community and lasting friendships

To expose the greater public to the excitement, fun, and benefits of cycling

To support our sponsors and promote their products

To provide organized group rides, racing opportunities, meetings, and social functions

To support riders in all phases of their development

To offer education and clinic opportunities for club members

To foster road awareness and safety first measures for "sharing the road"

We know that if the process is made fun than success will follow

We expect the rapid growth of our club to bear the fruit of a dedicated racing core to participate in regional and local racing events and team time trials

"Champions are ordinary people with extraordinary determination"

Special Thanks

Special thanks to Frank Ammirata, Star Stevenson, Raymond Rodriquez, and Bruce Coats, who without their help, this new and exciting team would not be possible! In addition, we would like to thank Jonathan Lee who has become a grass roots ambassador for a number of teams and cycling in general, here in Sonoma County.
